Sustainability

Contributing to a more sustainable future is integral to both our social responsibility and our professional expertise.

As a firm, we have pledged our commitment to the UN’s sustainability goals through our membership in the UN Global Compact. We annually report on all our initiatives aimed at contributing to the achievement of these sustainability goals.

However, our primary contribution to sustainable development lies in the expert legal advice and services we provide to our clients. As sustainability becomes a critical factor for success, both locally and globally, we are at the forefront of advising on the green transition – a movement driven by regulatory and commercial forces requiring substantial shifts across industries.

Our firm offers comprehensive support in all aspects of sustainable development and the green transition, helping clients adapt to an evolving market landscape.

Save the Children Norway

Wiersholm has been the main partner of Save the Children Norway since 2019, and is proud to have a meaningful collaboration with an organisation that works for one of the most important things for a sustainable future – children’s rights and education.

Save the Children’s main focus fits well with our business as a legal expertise company. The collaboration builds on shared values and goals, but also on our complementary skills.

Pro bono

Wiersholm has a strong and proud pro bono tradition and donates several FTEs of pro bono work every year. We have mainly structured our work through established partners, enabling well-functioning collaborations that work well for both parties, which we believe is key to the success of such collaborations. In addition, on occasions, we also assist some individual clients pro bono.

Our partners include, among others: Save the Children Norway, HumAk, NOAS, The Crown Prince and Crown Princess’ Foundation, and Mino.Jur.

UN Global Compact

Wiersholm is a proud member of UN Global Compact, the world’s largest social responsibility initiative.

Corporate sustainability starts with a company’s value system and a principled approach to doing business. This means that we commit ourselves to working determinedly and systematically to increase our strength in the fields of human rights, labour standards, the environment and anti-corruption.

Diversity

We consider diversity and differences as an asset and a condition for providing the best possible services to our clients.

Our employees represent 33 practice areas and a variety of nationalities, and we increasingly recruit lawyers with an international background and experience. As a firm we also need expertise in more areas than law. Wiersholm has employees with top competence in a number of areas so that we can deliver optimal solutions to our clients.

Teaching

We are a knowledge-based company. As leading commercial lawyers, our knowledge and experience are our key assets and most valuable and sustainable contribution to businesses and society. It is important to us to use our specialist competence to create value for society outside of our client engagements. We contribute to development of tomorrow’s lawyers and leaders through teaching, contribution in professional forums, and through conferences, seminars and in-house courses.
