Sustainability

Contributing to a more sustainable future is a part both of our social responsibility and our professional expertise.

As a firm, we have committed ourselves to the UN’s sustainability goals through membership in the UN Global Compact, where we annually report on everything we do to contribute to achieving the sustainability goals.

However, our greatest contribution to sustainable development is through the professional advice and assistance we provide to our clients. Sustainability is increasingly a key success factor for businesses in Norway and internationally. We help companies succeed in markets that are increasingly focused on sustainable development.

Save the Children Norway

Wiersholm is a Save the Children Norway corporate partner and is proud of this meaningful collaboration with an organisation engaged in some of the most important work for a sustainable future, namely children, young people and education.

Save the Children Norway’s activities focus on children’s rights pursuant to the UN Children’s Convention, with particular emphasis on schooling (the right to education), protection against abuse and access to health services. The organisation has considerable activities in Norway and internationally through Save the Children International.

Pro bono

Wiersholm has a strong pro bono tradition and does each year contribute with several full man years of pro bono work. We have entered into a corporate partnership agreement with Save the Children Norway and want through this work to strengthen the legal protection of children all over the word. Our long-standing collaboration with NOAS (the Norwegian Organisation for Asylum Seekers) is also an important part of this work. Each year, Wiersholm lawyers litigate a number of cases for asylum seekers before Norwegian courts.

In 2019-2022, Wiersholm is a corporate partner of HumAk, the Norwegian Law Student’s Humanitarian Action.

UN Global Compact

Wiersholm is a proud member of UN Global Compact, the world’s largest social responsibility initiative.

Corporate sustainability starts with a company’s value system and a principled approach to doing business. This means that we commit ourselves to working determinedly and systematically to increase our strength in the fields of human rights, labour standards, the environment and anti-corruption.

Diversity

We consider diversity and differences as an asset and a condition for providing the best possible services to our clients.

Our employees represent 33 practice areas and a variety of nationalities, and we increasingly recruit lawyers with an international background and experience. As a firm we also need expertise in more areas than law. Wiersholm has employees with top competence in a number of areas so that we can deliver optimal solutions to our clients.

Education

We are a knowledge company. As leading lawyers in our areas, knowledge and experience are our most important assets and our most important contribution to society. It is a priority for us to contribute to the development of tomorrow’s lawyers and leaders through the teaching of students, contributions in professional forums, and through seminars and in-house courses.
