Selected projects
Assisted an international wind power developer and investor on its first entry into the Norwegian wind power market, and as a runner-up for the acquisition of a Norwegian greenfield wind farm project. Our advice included assistance in understanding the Norwegian regulatory sphere and the recent developments affecting future wind farm investments in Norway. In addition, we assisted our client in the bid process for acquisition of a greenfield wind farm project, including a legal due diligence review of the wind farm project. While our client is highly experienced in the wind farm development, our assistance was key in order for our client to perform a precise assessment and valuation of the regulatory risks in the current Norwegian wind power market.
Advising SL Capital Partners LLP / Standard Life Investments through its Norwegian subsidiaries Nordic Power AS and Nordic Hydro Holding AS in connection with the acquisition of two companies owning small-scale hydropower plants and subsequent mergers of companies in the Nordic Power group. Wiersholm has previously assisted the client in connection with acquisitions of other hydropower plants by the Nordic Power group. The acquisition of Hesjeberg AS was signed in July 2017 and Mygland Kraft AS in August 2017. Wiersholm advised on due diligence, corporate, regulatory and contractual matters. This matter is important because new investments in Norwegian hydropower prove the success of previous investments and lead to the growth of the Nordic Power group. Furthermore, the acquisition of Mygland Kraft AS implies that the composition of the group is also more balanced, as the companies in its portfolio are exposed to different price areas for hydroelectric power and operate in different climate/weather conditions. Wiersholm is currently assisting the client in connection with another potential hydropower project.
