Trends in Dispute Resolution Forum 2025

On 12 June 2025, we kick off the second Trends in Dispute Resolution Forum, with the topic:
“Climate Litigation: How To Protect your Business Interests“
Climate Litigation against companies is on the rise, and about 40 % of Climate Litigation cases outside of the US now involve companies. Cases against companies have traditionally been focused on the fossil fuel sector, but we now see cases launched across other sectors, including airlines, the food and beverage industry and financial services. In this year’s Trends in Dispute Resolution Forum, we will explore ways to protect your business interests when defending against such cases. We will have a look at which trends we see developing in Corporate Climate Litigation, i.e. what types of cases we can expect going forward, and we will also take a closer look at Climate Litigation in Norway.
We have an outstanding line-up of speakers, including Stefanie Spancken-Monz from Freshfields, Ane Sydnes Egeland from the University of Oslo and our own Odin Breidvik from Wiersholm. Our esteemed speakers will examine the following topics:
- Wiersholm’s Odin Breidvik will take us through European trends in Corporate Climate Litigation, and will share key insights and possible future directions
- Freshfield’s Stefanie Spancken-Monz will give a talk on Climate Litigation against Private Companies, with a special focus on the case Luciano Lliuya v RWE
- Doctoral Research Fellow Ane Sydnes Egeland will offer her insights on Climate Litigation against Norway – focusing on the recent court cases and what she calls the Norwegian Dilemma
More information will be shared closer to the event date.
